Moving everything over to BoldColors.NET
By Joel Johannesen - Wednesday June 22, 2011 11:14 am -
To make things simpler and more efficient and therefore cheaper and even more profitable (snarf !) for me, I've decided to move everything from the BoldColors.CA site over to BoldColors.NET, and just maintain the one site (.NET). I plan to create a Canada-centric section of that .NET site in case you as a Canadian just want the stuff of interest only to Canadians, or I'll at least mark Canadian items with a tag or categorize those entries so it will be easy to zoom right to those articles. … [Read More...]
What’s wrong with canning the state-owned media on ideological grounds?
By Joel Johannesen - Monday June 20, 2011 11:54 am -
A long-time reader, Matt, sent me a link to a web page set up by the state-owned, state-run regulator of what we're allowed to watch on TV and what we're allowed to listen to on the radio, and in what proportion of French and English and what proportion of "Canadian" (?) and "foreign" (meaning American), and so on -- the CRTC. It's asking for your comments right now, regarding the application for the state-owned, taxpayer-funded CBC's license renewal, coming up in September. If this all … [Read More...]
Solution to the Canada Post strike: privatization – By A. Karabegovic & C. Lammam, Fraser Inst.
By Guest Contributor - Thursday June 16, 2011 9:30 am -
By Amela Karabegovic and Charles Lammam of the Fraser Institute. -- With the breakdown in negotiations between Canada Post management and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, many cities across Canada have been subject to rotating strikes by the mail carriers. Naturally, it is Canadians who rely on the crown corporation for mail delivery that are adversely affected. It doesn’t have to be this way. To protect consumers, the solution is to privatize Canada Post. Canada Post … [Read More...]
NDP back away from some of their scary socialist language in their own constitution; but add more too.
By Joel Johannesen - Wednesday June 15, 2011 11:49 am -
Lipstick: meet pig. Oh you've already met! Well then let's share the excess lipstick; "to each according to his need," if you will. Line up over there, li'l piggies! While the you've got to be kidding party -- the NDP -- has already applied tons of happy smiley faces over their public agenda to hide their true (and still hidden, as best they can) socialist agenda, they're now seeking more of those ubiquitous yellow stickers. (For my ever-so helpful imagery, in lieu of the official … [Read More...]
State-owned CBC anchor dubs Michele Bachmann a whack job, who has “outwhackied” Sarah Palin
By Joel Johannesen - Tuesday June 14, 2011 9:55 am -
...But at least the state-owned, taxpayer-funded, socialism-reliant CBC is maintaining its "objective" and "non-judgmental" and "honest broker" status as an "unbiased" news reporting network which just reports the "facts", unblemished by any anti-conservative opinions or political spin! Ha ha. Just kidding. It's Tuesday! According to the CBC news anchor Kim Brunhuber this morning, quite possibly, Republican candidate Michelle Bachmann "has 'outwhackied' Sarah Palin, which is hard … [Read More...]
National Post continues its “Palin is an idiot” meme today
By Joel Johannesen - Friday June 10, 2011 12:14 pm -
Amidst the release, today, of emails transacted by her during her time as Governor of Alaska, the National Post, which once cast Sarah Palin as "a complete idiot," today digs deep and finds an archival photo of a genius leftist activist holding a sign reading "IDIOT QUEEN" to accompany an item not about the emails, but rather yet another opinion piece about how we should ignore her. Note that the opinion piece says nothing of her being an "idiot." The National Post just thought that was the … [Read More...]
Just posted an example of lib media hate and intolerance, over at BoldColors.net
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday June 9, 2011 3:33 pm -
Read "Is this what newspapers are for now?" at BoldColors.net. It's about the New York Times and concerns Sarah Palin, so it's really an American story. Or is it? Canada's National Post once said of Sarah Palin that she's an "idiot." Sorry no -- a "complete idiot." And they advised us to just "ignore her." … [Read More...]
AMAZING: State-owned CBC admits Weiner is a Dem; then giggle thru report
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday June 9, 2011 11:21 am -
I actually saved the report in my video files for historic purposes. Here's a screen capture. Call me cynical, but in covering the fully exposed Weiner story and exposing even his political alliance (Democrat!) I have a feeling that now that the Conservatives have earned a majority, the state-owned, state-funded, socialism-reliant CBC is covering its huge, flatulent ass, figuratively speaking, and is trying to appear as though they're not a far-left, anti-Conservative and not an … [Read More...]
Canada Post announces a reduced 3-times-per-week mail delivery
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday June 9, 2011 10:34 am -
Just a day after writing up my brilliant suggestion in these pages in which I said twice-per-week mail delivery was a great step toward reducing the size of the strike-prone Canada Post behemoth, Canada Post has announced... three-times-per-week delivery. See? I'm a radical extremist. I went for two days when three was what was really needed. Citing the fact that mail volumes have shrunk (yet another) 50% because of the militant left-wing union's strike actions (my adjectives), Canada … [Read More...]
Let’s reduce Canada Post mail delivery to twice per week (and less)
By Joel Johannesen - Wednesday June 8, 2011 4:32 pm -
Aside from privatizing mail delivery altogether, which would be my preferred option, here's a great Plan B and a great way to reduce the size and scope of government without most of the public even noticing: reduce mail delivery to twice per week. Everybody who even knows there's a growing Canada Post strike going on right now acknowledges that, well, hardly any of us would even notice if Canada Post went on strike. True enough, but eventually we would notice, if only because we didn't … [Read More...]
I don’t like blogging like this.
By Joel Johannesen - Friday June 3, 2011 8:02 am -
UPDATE June 7: Now freshly painted! But still lots of touching up to do. Whine. I preferred the style of my old house, ProudToBeCanadian.ca, wherein it was more like a blog than a magazine with articles. I'm finding the constant need, here, to update the featured pictures tedious; and I worry that folks finding it necessary to dig down to find my bloggy brilliance is not worth the bother, especially for the real short quip-type blog entries. Of course it is worth it, but, see, … [Read More...]
Maybe world IS ending? Left-wing party running Manitoba tests idea of non-gov liquor sales
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday May 19, 2011 8:46 am -
I am a late adherent to the truth. I now believe the world is in fact ending on Saturday. An NDP government -- yes, the big-government socialists who still largely believe government control and ownership of every thing is de rigueur, is now considering allowing private supermarkets to sell liquor -- well beer and wine anyway. You know, almost like in a free country full of intelligent, educated, mostly law-abiding, and rather civilized grownups. Oh and Free people. Capitalists … [Read More...]
Progressives believe it’s a core function of gov to pay for crap. Literally.
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday May 19, 2011 7:11 am -
I'm glad the mainstream media is bringing this to light (see article just below), but the overarching story here is political. People -- average citizens, your neighbors, folks at the BBQ you're going to this weekend -- stand around in wonderment and ask "why does this kind of crap continue to happen? And the answer is: It's liberalism. It's a tiny example of what "progressive" government is all about. It's left-wing loons at work, even within a so-called "Conservative" … [Read More...]
Ignatieff to Harper/Conservatives: “they can go to hell!” Media ignore it.
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday April 28, 2011 9:11 am -
If a conservative (or Conservative) politician slams his fists on the table and tells the editorial board of one of the biggest newspapers in a country that the opposing party can "go to hell," they rarely use verbiage to describe the leader as merely "...combative ..." or that he simply "told" the board that the Conservatives can "go to hell." Particularly if the leader of the opposing party also happens to be the Prime Minister of the country. But that's exactly how the Liberals' Toronto … [Read More...]
Globe and Mail endorses Conservative Party; socialists just too spendy!
By Joel Johannesen - Thursday April 28, 2011 8:29 am -
In what could be the most tepid or bitter "endorsement" in years by any of the Canadian liberal/progressive media organizations, the Globe and Mail endorsed Stephen Harper and the Conservatives for the May 2 2011 election (I have to specify which election, because in the insanity that is Canadian politics, there could be another one on October 2, 2011). But the bit that made me laugh even harder was when they tried to rationalize not endorsing the far-left you've got to be kidding party, the … [Read More...]
